German colony of Kamerun - Airmail labels

German colony of Kamerun. Labels come in sheets of 72(6x12)

The United Republic of Cameroon was formerly the German colony of Kamerun. At the end of WW1, it was divided and mandated to Great Britain and France. The British mandate was administered as part of Nigeria until 1960, when a plebiscite resulted in the northern portion becoming part of Nigeria and the southern part joining what had been the French mandate as the Federal Republic of Cameroon. It adopted its present name in 1972.
